Check for Understanding Quiz Next Week

Next Monday and Tuesday (April 20 & 21) you will have a Check for Understanding Quiz on the following:

  1. When was the Renaissance?
  2. In what city did the Renaissance begin?
  3. Why did the Renaissance begin in the city of ____? (see #2s answer)
  4. Who were the Medici and how did they contribute to the Renaissance?
  5. Who was Petrarch? How was he a part of the Renaissance?
  6. Who was Marco Polo? How did he contribute to European trade with Asia?
  7. How did Venice and Genoa become major trading centers during the Renaissance?

Reflective Journal Entries

April 29 & 30: As you look back to the beginning of the year, in what ways have you improved as a learner?  How does your research of the renaissance show this improvement?

April 27 & 28:  You have a few days until your museum exhibit is due.  In several sentences, describe what you need to do in order to meet this deadline?

April 23 & 24:  In at least six (6) sentences, describe the skills you are using to successfully research the Renaissance.

April 22:  Describe three things you learned about the city of Florence from today’s video.

April 20 & 21:  Of the Renaissance people you learned about so far, which one would you most like to have dinner with?  What would you like to ask them about?  Why?

April 15 & 16:  Tell me what you learned today.  Remember, you should be specific and give details.  What learner profile trait best describes your research progress this past week?  Why?

April 13 & 14:  What did you learn today that your mom or dad may not know?  In what ways do you think how you are learning is different than the way your parents might have learned when they were 12?

April 9 & 10:  What did you learn today?  How effectively did you use today’s class period?  How can you be more effective?

April 7 & 8:  How much of your action plan did you accomplish today?  What did you learn (write about at least 3 things)? What are you going to investigate the next time we meet?

March 26 & 27: What do you know about the Renaissance? Explain.

 

It’s a Renaissance! Formative Assessments

During this unit you will have several formative assessments checking your progress in both your research journal and reflective journal, as well as a couple of check for understanding quizzes.  They will take place on the following dates:

Reflection Journal- April 9, 10, 23, 24

Research Journal- April 16, 17, 29, 30

Check for Understanding- April 13, 14, 27, 28
